| Paradise Island
Discovered!
Paradise Park’s indoor play centre - The
JungleBarn - has been joined by a new outdoor play area for children
- Paradise Island.
To discover ‘Paradise Island’,
children cross the bridge under the welcoming toucans. They can
look out from the play towers, slide into the ‘river’
and take a ride on a friendly dolphin. Testing their agility across
steps, stilts and weaves, they can also climb a palm tree, play
with a rocking tiger and sail on a raft.
The lucky children of St Piran’s School in Hayle,
were asked to take the first steps onto Paradise Island before it
opens to the public on the 1st April.
‘It really sparked their imaginations; they
loved playing on the island – riding on the dolphins and jumping
over the river. It’s great for active children’, said
Park Director Alison Hales.
Investing in Fun
‘We talked to our visitors a lot, and they
told us what they would to see like at the Park. Paradise Island
fits in really well, and we’ve had a lot of fun with the theming.
The ‘river’ and ‘sand banks’ are made of
a kind of spongy tarmac, a high tech safety surface perfect for
the job. It’s got thatched look-out huts, toucans, tigers
and dolphins – very Swiss Family Robinson!’
The new play area is a big investment for the Park,
but Directors Alison and Nick Reynolds are determined to keep Paradise
Park a top attraction. There are also new aviaries, and new birds
will feature in the free-flying displays this year. Despite Britain’s
gloomy economic outlook, they are confident that the summer season
will be a good one for Cornwall.
‘We support local businesses whenever
possible, the main supplier was specialist Cornish firm Taylor Made
from St Mawgan, and the rustic palisade fencing was beautifully
installed by Nigel Glanville of Celtic Garden Furniture, Truro.’
Photocall: 25th March. Children from St Piran’s
School at Paradise Park from 10.30 to 11.30am testing out the new
play area.
