Nest Cam Videos

This page features clips from the three breeding pairs of choughs in our seclusion aviaries at Paradise Park. The nests are monitored with cameras supplied by Ecowatch at Heligan Gardens. Footage is recorded onto DVD's and is then edited down to Windows Media format. We are hoping in the future to be able to stream footage live via the web. Visitors to the Park can also see pictures from the nests on a TV in the cafe.

The clips have been reduced in size to allow viewing over the Internet. Durations and file sizes are shown next to each clip below.

Pair One is an established pairing, normally laying four eggs.

Pair Two normally lays only two eggs. The female of this pair is younger than that of Pair One, and has a habit of abandoning her chicks after 7 - 10 days. Staff at the Park then try to hand rear these young chicks with mixed results.

Pair Three is a new pair of young birds, possibly only just old enough to breed. It was decided to put these two birds together to improve their bond, and also to give them a chance to "practice" their nesting behaviour.

So far this year, each pair has exceeded our expectations. Please click on the images below to view the clips. More will be added as the birds progress.
