A pair at xxxxxxxxx?
During the winter months of 2004/2005 three of the Lizard choughs from 2004 decided to take up residence near Xxxxxxx. The three birds were joined by another mystery chough, which had no leg rings. It may be that this bird is one of the original five birds, which arrived in 2001. The four birds spent most of their time on the cliff tops and in fields just west of Xxxxxxxx. The fields were pasture with sheep, as well as a barley stubble field nearby. I watched them for many hours, even treating myself to a couple of hours on Christmas Morning! Two of the birds have now returned to the Lizard, but the remaining birds (one of which is the mystery bird) seem quite settled. I have been back to see them many times, and I believe this area may be a future nest site. Note: The location of the site is obviously sensitive, hence the censorship. |
