New Flight Aviary

The new aviary to be erected near Zennor has had to be cancelled, due to problems with planning bylaws, and - unbelievably - local opposition!

Luckily, there was just enough room next to the large flight tunnel at Paradise Park, so the aviary was erected there. We were lucky enough to find a tunnel at a local auction - all we had to do was take it down and put it back up again...

The large flight aviaries provide the birds with highly natural environment. Each aviary has a small stream-like water feature, along with areas of different length grass and gravel/ small stone sections in which the birds can learn to forage. The length of the aviaries allows the birds to maintain a high degree of fitness.

The new polytunnel aviary now has a total of five young birds. Hopefully, some of these birds will be released next year.

Despite these setbacks, we are still hoping to find a suitable site for an aviary on the Penwith coast. Paul Carter has been in contact with several local landowners who have shown interest.
