2004 - Captive breeding Breakthrough
This has been another good year for the chough in Cornwall. The wild birds on the Lizard raised four chicks, their best yet! Operation Chough has had its own success, with a new "wild food" regime - feeding our breeding birds as much wild caught food as they would find in nature. This certainly paid dividends, our pair at the Zennor aviary produced three healthy chicks. The wild birds continue to puzzle would-be chough chasers, and one bird even put in an appearance at the Minnack Theatre. The Park was visited by author Frances Fyfield, who is producing a program for Radio Four. |
